Listen to my PODCAST dealing with the problems of 3D films! My Mic was acting a little strange so if you hear a few crackles I apologize.

The boring but most crucial stage

I know I've posted about Pre-Production already, but I'll post this just because it is such a crucial stage and scheduling and budgeting is a must. This video shows more of what its like for an Indy filmmaker like myself.

Development and Pre-Production

The first stage in making movies is coming up with a great story and writing a screenplay out of it. Development and Pre-Production include tasks like, screenplay writing, casting, story boarding, location scouting, etc. To me this is probably the most difficult stage just because of all of the planning and writing you have to do. Coming up with a great story is becoming increasingly difficult because almost everything has been done, you just have to search your imagination to find a story that you want to tell. After the screenplay has been written, which can be re-written at least 20 times before you get it right, you have to plan your shoot. Storyboards and shot lists are what you need to make in order to go into your Production phase and know what you're doing and looking for. I can't explain all of the steps in Pre-Production so I'll leave you all with an awesome video I found.

Dylan Carver Introduction

Hey everyone, I wanted to begin by first talking about myself and why I love making movies for a hobby/career(hopefully). I started making movies at the age of 10, but I had the interest years before when I decided to build a cardboard Flintstones car when I was 4. I wanted to make something from that movie. I was kind of a strange child, always wanting to watch Batman (1989) and or Godzilla. I wanted to know how they were made. When I was 9 I had become dead set on making my own Batman film with the Penguin as the villain. Yeah it never happened. That's when I began making Stop-Motion films with GI JOES and other toys. So after years of doing that I then decided to actually make movies with people in them. I'll rephrase, I tried to make movies with people in them. I'll skip to Sophomore year of High School when I met a few people on Facebook that lived in Florida and LA. Those people really helped me become the film maker I am today. They gave me advice, wrote me screenplays, and just were very friendly people that I still talk to today. I've made a lot of short films since then and most recently just entered a Short Film Competition called SLASH AND BASH. I dedicate a lot of time writing, editing, and just anything film. So that's my story for now, hopefully it will become much more interesting if I make it to the big leagues. I'll leave you all with a link to my Youtube channel if anyone is interested in watching some of my work. I love feedback, good or bad.
